Debbie Lum

Filmmaker Debbie Lum worked in editing bays for years, with credits that include Emmy-award winning films. Her feature-length directing debut, Seeking Asian Female (2012), won Best of Fest at SXSW. She has also written several short comedies and co-produced films. Lum earned her bachelor of arts from Brown University, an M.F.A. from San Francisco State University and completed the CPB/PBS Producers Workshop at WGBH. Her film, Try Harder! (Mountainfilm 2021), zooms in on the daily, high-pressure life of seniors at the high-achieving Lowell High School.
