Corey Ohama
Award-winning director and editor Corey Ohama takes an artistic approach when addressing such social issues as growing up undocumented. Her most recent documentary, I Was Born in Mexico, But (Mountainfilm 2018) is a found footage portrait of a young woman who believes herself to be American, only to find out as an early teen that she is undocumented. The film premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2013. Ohama also works as a documentary film editor with such features as Going on 13 (Tribeca 2008, ITVS), Wonder Women! (SXSW 2012, Independent Lens) and New Generation Queens (ZIFF 2015) under her belt. She holds an MFA in Film from San Francisco State University, and a B.A. in Semiotics from Brown University.
