Christiane Amanpour
Christiane Amanpour has covered wars and global conflict for a several decades, primarily as the chief international correspondent for CNN. Her first assignment for the network in a combat zone was the Iran-Iraq War, where she made her mark during Operation Desert Storm in 1990. Amanpour continued to report from some of the world’s most dangerous places, including Bosnia in the mid-1990s. Her urgent and passionate work in that region helped shape global opinion for international intervention to prevent ethnic cleansing. To critics who said her reporting was pro-Muslim, she responded, “I realize that our job is to give all sides an equal hearing, but in genocide, you can’t just be neutral.”
