Catherine Upin

Producer, writer and director Catherine Upin began her career at ABC News on “Turning Point,” where she worked as an associate producer on documentaries, including “Waco: The Untold Story,” and was a field producer for ABC News’ Judgment at Midnight. Upin spent more than 10 years as an investigative and long-form narrative producer at ABC News and also served as producer for election and campaign reporting and primetime breaking news specials on almost every major news event in a decade, including 9/11, the Iraq War and Hurricane Katrina. Most recently, she has been working with PBS “Frontline,” where she created Climate of Doubt (Mountainfilm 2013) with John Hockenberry. Her first film for “Frontline,” The Child Cases, a collaboration with ProPublica reporter A.C. Thompson, uncovered questionable autopsies and prosecutions in child death cases. She has received six News and Documentary Emmy Awards and nominations, the Alfred I. duPont Award for ABC News coverage of the September 11 attacks and a first place National Headliner Award.
