Briar March

Briar March released her first feature-length documentary Allie Eagle and Me in 2004, the same year she graduated from Auckland University's Elam School of Fine Arts. March’s global warming documentary There Once Was an Island (2010) was invited to more than 50 international festivals and won myriad awards. After finishing her MFA in documentary film and video production at California's renowned Stanford University and completing a slew of short films, March returned to New Zealand, where she directed the social housing documentary A Place to Call Home. March is especially inspired by documentaries that have a raw and honest quality to them and that make the viewer feel deeply moved in some way. She shares a production company, On The Level Productions, with Lyn Collie. The company’s focus is to challenge and inspire viewers toward social change.
