Bill Gifford

“What can be done about growing old?” is the question asked by Bill Gifford’s 2015 book about anti-aging science Spring Chicken: Stay Young Forever or Die Trying. Gifford is a journalist who writes about cutting-edge science and extraordinary athletes, including cyclist Lance Armstrong’s doping scandal and fall from grace. His work has appeared in Men’s Journal, where he was editor-at-large, Outside magazine, Bicycling, Wired, Slate and others. Gifford’s 2007 book Ledyard: In Search of the First American Explorer tells the tale of the once-famous 18th-century explorer John Ledyard, his ill-fated travels and ultimate lapse into obscurity.
