With Nova Scotian roots, Ben Proudfoot founded Breakwater Studios, an award-winning film production company in Los Angeles, after graduating from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Breakwater Studios creates 40 to 50 short documentaries a year, and Proudfoot has directed and produced for companies like Charles Schwab, Annapurna Pictures, and The New York Times. His work includes the feature documentary Rwanda & Juliet (2016), the documentary series “Almost Famous” and the short film A Concerto is a Conversation (Mountainfilm 2021) and The Queen of Basketball (Mountainfilm 2022). He hails from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and is a graduate of the University of Southern California. Proudfoot is an accomplished sleight-of-hand magician and has performed at The Magic Castle in Los Angeles.
