Avery McRae

As a sixth-grader in Eugene, Oregon, Avery McRae became a plaintiff in a landmark federal lawsuit where, alongside 20 fellow youth plaintiffs, she demanded federal action to solve the climate crisis. At the age of 8, McRae received the Rachel Carson award from the National Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides for her advocacy on behalf of Oregon’s salmon. McRae enjoys singing, dancing and playing piano. On weekends, she can be found outdoors, riding horses, working with donkeys, playing with her rabbits, paddling rivers or hiking in the forests of western Oregon.
