Amy Schatz

An award-winning director and producer, Amy Schatz specializes in creating children's shows and documentaries. She’s worked on productions for the young, namely the critically-acclaimed Goodnight Moon & Other Sleepytime Tales (1999) and various HBO documentaries, including The Number on Great-Grandpa's Arm (2018), Song of Parkland (2019), In the Shadow of the Towers: Stuyvesant High on 9/11 (2019) and We Are the Dream: The Kids of the Oakland MLK Oratorical Fest (Mountainfilm 2020). In the latter, she documents the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.-inspired public speaking competition in Oakland, California — providing a peek into today’s youth as they find their voice and connect with King’s powerful legacy.
