Alan Hicks

Australian Alan Hicks splits his time between Los Angeles and Sydney. After working as a musician in and around New York, he transitioned to filmmaking. His first feature documentary Keep On Keepin’ On (2014) won numerous awards and was shortlisted for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2015. Hicks went on to co-direct Quincy (2018) with Rashida Jones, a documentary about musician Quincy Jones that earned him a Grammy Award for Best Music Film in 2018. His film Liv (Mountainfilm 2020) incorporates music through the storytelling of two inseparable siblings facing a challenge.
