Abby McBride

Though she holds degrees in biology and science writing from Williams College and MIT, Abby McBride has taken a meandering and adventurous career path. McBride worked on a farm in Spain, manned the helm of a Maine lobster boat, bird-blogged across the western United States, studied boobies on an uninhabited Galápagos island, worked as a pastry chef, sketched icebergs in Iceland and babblers in Borneo, taught piano lessons, worked communications for a scientific society and bicycled across eastern Europe. She finally landed as a sketch biologist. The Fulbright National Geographic Fellow recently returned from a year in New Zealand writing and illustrating stories about seabirds.
