Mark Nelson: Biosphere 2’s Lessons for Living on Spaceship Earth

Dr. Mark Nelson was one of eight people originally selected to live and sustain life inside the fully enclosed Biosphere 2, an undertaking that was featured in the film Spaceship Earth (Mountainfilm 2021). Nelson leans on his areas of expertise — closed ecological system research, bioregenerative space life support, ecological engineering, restoration of damaged ecosystems, desert agriculture and wastewater recycling — while sharing lessons learned from Biosphere 2 that are relevant to the challenges the Earth faces today.

In addition, Nelson, who is the chairman of the Institute of Ecotechnics and head of Wastewater Gardens International, will share findings from the second edition of his book Life Under Glass: Crucial Lessons in Planetary Stewardship.
