In May of 2013, an infamous brawl erupted between Sherpas and elite climbers at Everest Base Camp. In April of 2014, an avalanche killed 16 Sherpas in the Khumbu Icefall, and the climbing season was canceled. This year, on April 25, an avalanche triggered by the devastating earthquake roared through Base Camp, killing at least 18 people.
