FESTIVAL PRODUCER
Stash claims he's held most every job Tellurde offers: He worked room service, guided rafting trips, took photos of skiers on the mountain, manned the Deli Downstairs, labored in construction, sold gear at Telluride Sports and was an EMT (emergency medical technician). He also volunteered for Mountainfilm, helping out any way he could. Eight years ago, his volunteering paid off when he was hired as Mountainfilm’s producer, a job that has securing specialized equipment, co-ordinating breakfast talks and everything in between. Somewhere along the line, he landed a gig with Boston Light and Sound, which gave him work at Sundance, Dominican Rebpulic and Maui. Between all the film work, he volunteered for the Telluride AIDS Benefit (TAB), working backstage in advance of the fashion show. When the executive director job opened up at TAB in 2009, he went for it. His first year at the helm was a success; the sold-out production raised some $160,000 for a handful of AIDS nonprofits in Africa and Colorado. Of both Mountainfilm and TAB, Stash points out, “You’re supposed to think globally and act locally. That’s what we do.”
