Shannon Galpin created Mountain2Mountain to focus on remote war torn regions where women's oppression was the worst. Her work in Afghanistan connects communities through sport and photography with the intent of bringing women's rights to the fore. Continually focused on breaking barriers, in 2009 she became the first woman to mountain bike in Afghanistan, a country where cultural mores are very much against women riding bikes.
