Ivan Hughes

Ivan Hughes is a director, editor and documentary filmmaker based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He studied cinematography at George Brown College and photographic techniques at Toronto Image works. His 2004 directorial debut In the Shadow of the Chief was a well-received and award-winning film. Soul of the Sea (Mountainfilm 2012) depicts the circumnavigation of the remote island of South Georgia and also features the albatross that is severely threatened by overfishing, longline fishing and the plastic detritus that too often ends up in albatross bellies.
