Overview

In parts of West Texas, pronghorn antelope populations have been in decline due to habitat fragmentation, drought and urban sprawl. Unwilling to let an iconic species disappear from its natural habitat, conservationists, government agencies and ranchers developed a restoration program in the northern panhandle of the state. The pronghorn are caught and transported via helicopter to areas where their populations have dwindled in the hope of restoring this speedy and elegant animal to the grasslands of West Texas.
