High Plains Winter is a meditation on how people can thrive in a bleak and unsympathetic landscape. Shot on Super 8 and 16mm film in the high plains of Montana, Cindy Stillwell’s film shows a group of people making the most out of a long winter with a sport called “skijoring.” —EL
