Roko Belics directoral debut, Genghis Blues (Mountainfilm 1999) remains one of the most popular features in the festivals history. The film won the Sundance Audience Award and was nominated for an Academy Award. He later teamed up with Tom Shadyac to direct another much-loved film, Happy (Mountainfilm 2011) which won Mountainfilms Audience Award. The film won numerous awards and screened in 70 countries. It was the No. 1 documentary on iTunes for over nine weeks, achieving All-Time Bestseller status.
