Niles Lichtenstein

As a spoken word poet and technologist, Niles X. Lichtenstein has always been active in the communities of storytelling and innovation. While an undergraduate at Harvard, he started the Finding Freedom Through Language project, which opened his eyes to the power of finding narrative frameworks for memories and stories. In 2015, he created his latest company: The History Project, a digital storytelling platform that aims to connect people with the memories and artifacts of their lives to create living, modern time capsules. Invested in by The New York Times and Associated Press, The History Project has empowered individuals and groups to create multi-media narratives for the likes of HBO's The Diplomat, singer/songwriter Jewel, The New York Times and, most importantly, everyday people who want to ensure their memories and stories are preserved for generations. Voted in 2015 as one of the top 20 movers and shakers in the Bay Area, Lichtenstein has always drawn inspiration from his journey as a young man who was given a chance to trek through Alaska and Nepal as an alumni of NOLS, Summer Search and Global Roots.
