Najibullah Musafer

Born in Kabul in 1963, Najibullah Musafer has been witness to many decades of tumultuous change in Afghanistan. Studying in the painting department at Kabul University, Musafer eventually turned to the camera and developed his photography skills during the Taliban regime. He became the World Food Program’s official photographer, traveling around Afghanistan documenting his country during the tough years of war. In 2002, he joined the Aina photojournalism training program and, in 2007, established the 3rd Eye Photojournalism Center in Kabul with the help of Reza Sahel, Basir Seerat and Reza Yemak. Nowadays, he is conducts photography workshops and independent classes all over Afghanistan. His work and role in the Afghan photography community is profiled in the film Frame by Frame (Mountainfilm 2015).
