Mara Grunbaum

Mara Grunbaum explains Mount Everest’s death zone, sinkholes, snakes, geysers and barnacles to kids and adults alike. She has written for Science World, SuperScience and Discover. For two years, she led the research for Popular Science’s Annual Brilliant Ten, vetting hundreds of nominees and helping select the 10 winners. Grunbaum is the author of WTF, Evolution?: A Theory of Unintelligible Design, a picture book collection of 100 funny and bizarre animals that were the product — or maybe the victim — of an overenthusiastic evolution she depicts with humor.
