Anand Varma

Anand Varma is National Geographic photographer whose work explores the intersection of natural history and science. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in integrative biology and helps biologists communicate their research through photographs. His work tells the story behind the science on everything from primate behavior and hummingbird mechanics to amphibian diseases and mangrove forests. His photographs have appeared on the cover of National Geographic, and his assignments have dispatched him to the remote wetlands of northern Patagonia and the coral reefs in French Polynesia. Anand, with Jason Jaacks, directed the short film In Search of Zotz (Mountainfilm 2016).
