Bodega

“A bodega is a staple of life, brother. This is how you survive in the Bronx,” says Dallas Penn, one of the stars of the profane—but, in its own way, profound—short film Bodega. In this context, a “bodega” is a grocery store in some cities that is known for its fried products rather than its fresh produce. The Bodega Food Pyramid that the filmmakers introduce is hilarious, heartbreaking—and heart stopping. —DH
