ABOUT MOUNTAINFILM IN TELLURIDE
Mountainfilm is America’s premier festival of mountain, adventure, cultural and environmental film and video, celebrating its 30th year. We accept and screen films on a broad range of subjects that include but are not limited to: those topics listed above, this year's theme of WATER, mountains and mountain sports.

FILM SELECTION INFORMATION
A screening committee chooses official festival selections and juries all entries. Finalists’ films will be viewed by a festival jury for awards and cash prizes to be announced at the Closing Picnic, Monday, May 26, 2008.

SHORT FILMS
We particularly encourage filmmakers to submit short films. While the majority of our submissions are feature length, more than half of all Mountainfilm official selections are less than 30 minutes in length and nearly 90% are 60 minutes or shorter.

THEME FOR 2008
The central theme of the 2008 MOVING MOUNTAINS SYMPOSIUM will be WATER, a thread that will be woven throughout the weekend of films and talks. We encourage filmmakers to submit films that explore or celebrate the Earth’s most vital, and endangered, resource. As declared by the United Nations in 2002, the International Year of the Mountains: “If you drink water, you are connected to the mountains.”
