King Lines has two subjects. The first is climbing phenomenon Chris Sharma, who climbs the hardest routes in the world with a monkey-like wizardry and communion with the rock. The second is the perfect line, which Chris is on a mission to find. The perfect line, by his definition, is big and dynamic and super difficult. But it’s also beautiful in shape, color and surroundings. And so this film, shot in gorgeous high definition, follows Chris to bizarre misshapen boulders atop a remote plateau in Venezuela; to breathtaking ocean cliffs in the Greek Islands; to strange, streaky walls in Ceuse, France; and, finally, to Es Pontas, a huge, graceful arch that stands in the crashing sea off Mallorca. Simultaneously, the film gets into the head of the humble and quiet climber and to the root of what drives his search for the king line.
