| James Balog |
For 25 years, James Balog has broken new ground in the art of photographing nature. His work springs from a passionate lifelong involvement with nature as an artist, adventurer, scientist, and explorer. His books, "Tree: A New Vision of the American Forest" and "Survivors: A New Vision of Endangered Wildlife," have been hailed as major conceptual breakthroughs in the visual arts. His images have been exhibited in museums and galleries from Los Angeles to Greece and regularly published in magazines such as "National Geographic," "Time," "Life," "The New Yorker" and "Vanity Fair." He is a contributing editor of "National Geographic Adventure." The U.S. Postal Service gave him the first-ever photographic commission to create a series of stamps.
