Alun Hughes

The Indian Face (E9, 6c) on Clogwyn Dur Arddu, in Wales, was Britain’s hardest adventure climb for more than two decades. It was most convincingly mastered by Johnny Dawes who did a first ascent of West Indian Face in 1988 that involved him in re-tracing the holds of earlier pioneers across the notorious crux section of Indian Face itself. The saga of the original climb is narrated by Jim Ferrin with contributions from Joe Brown, John Redhead, Nick Dixon and Johnny Dawes himself.
