For an idea of what to expect in 2008, check out the details of our 2007 program:
SATURDAY, May 26 - MonDAY, May 28, 2007
| |
Are you in middle or high school?
Do you like cool movies about radical people doing extraordinary things? |
| |
Do you want to know more about how independent films are made and meet the incredible people who make them? |
| Yes? RENDEZVOUS is for you!!! |
This year, filmmakers will talk to Rendezvous students about these films:
- Crawl Walk Run WORLD PREMIERE
Given a brief discharge from hospital, 14 severely injured soldiers from the war in Iraq join a whitewater rafting trip through the Grand Canyon.
- Emmy
The wounds of war are not always inflicted by bullets, and the killers are not always the soldiers. This is the story of a family made from who was left.
- Nine Winters Old WORLD PREMIERE
An acclaimed yet offbeat ski photographer celebrates winter and its devotees.
- Running Down the Man WORLD PREMIERE
They said it couldn't be done: one man's quest to tame Baja's elusive rooster fish on foot with a fly rod.
The Program
Mountainfilm offers local, national and international middle and high school age youth an opportunity to attend the festival and meet with special guests in an intimate setting. The essence of Rendezvous is about giving interested students the opportunity to see inspiring and informative films and to meet filmmakers and other festival guests such as adventurers, artists and activists.
This year Mountainfilm will team with Telluride Academy (more at www.tellurideacademy.com) to offer the Rendezvous program as a structured and guided program designed for students interested in experiencing films, meeting special guests and interacting with their peers. Students will meet each day at a predetermined location with their trained guides and follow an itinerary that includes supervised lunch, hikes, activities and other excursions to take place between film screenings.
COST
The cost for the Memorial Day Weekend program, from 8 to 5 Saturday and Sunday and from 8 to noon (closing picnic) Monday, is $200 per child. A $50 discount will be available to Rendezvous families who agree to host out-of-town students. Financial assistance will be available for qualifying students (based on a letter request written by the student). A $25 discount will apply to applications received before May 1.
