This film poses the question Who Killed the Electric Car? in the style of an whodunit murder mystery. The set-up: In the early nineties car manufacturers were forced by the government to start designing and manufacturing zero-emission vehicles. The case: After less than 10 years, the electric car was mysteriously taken off the market in conjunction with government policy change. The suspects: Car companies, oil companies, the government and even consumers may be the culprits. The detective: Director Chris Paine follows the leads in search of the truth about the demise of the electric car.
