The Cave of the Yellow Dog

Byambasuren Davaa

Six-year-old Nansal, the oldest daughter of a Mongolian nomad family, finds a small dog in a cave while collecting dung for fuel. Her father, afraid the puppy will bring bad luck and attrack wolves, orders her to leave it behind as they move on to another camp. The Cave of the Yellow Dog tells the age-old story of the bond between humans and dogs, a bond that experiences a new twist through the eternal cycle of reincarnation in Mongolia.
