Appalachia—The Endless Forest
Steve Nicholli & Alfred Vendl
Explore the hidden worlds locked away in deep forests that cover the ridges and valleys of the southern Appalachians. The hillsides team with creatures ranging from bears and salamanders to vultures and flying squirrels, and the human cultural history is just as rich. These mountains were once the heartland of the Cherokee Nation, and the film producers worked with Cherokee to re-create their view of the forest world. Settlers from Germany, Scotland and Ireland later helped create the distinctive culture of modern Appalachia. Tying these elements together is a unique and original score of traditional music.
